Description

A beautiful set of hand made and blown Murano glass flush mount ceiling fixtures with a rare effect of “Maculato” on the surface. This effect required  a skilled glass maker to make each white dot one by one with the help of a thin stick of glass called “canne”. Some of the dots are in between two layers of glass.  Once the first layer of the fixture is finished, it is dipped  into another transparent fusion of glass covering the previous layer.  The glass maker then repeats another layer of dots. This manipulation can be done several times to create depth in the pattern.  The overall effect of the glass is a layered look. Also to note, this  glass has a ceramic matte quality rather than shiny. This texture is often copied later but never in this time consuming technique and the result is very shiny and completed in one process without the layered effect.

The lamping is lacquered paint over brass and stamped Venini Murano
