Large 19th Century Dark Biedermeier Chest Of Drawers

An early 19th-century German Biedermeier chest of drawers. This handsome case piece features three deep, full-width drawers faced in a highly figured, dark walnut veneer on a solid pine core. The drawer fronts display an exquisite book-matched grain pattern configured to reveal a natural, heart-shaped motif. The façade is further adorned with blonde shield-shaped, diamond-inlaid escutcheons and rests gracefully upon clean, straight, and tapered feet. The rich, contrasting veneer has been expertly restored using shellac and finished with a traditional satin French polish, enhancing a three-dimensional effect without a harsh, high-gloss shine.
